Nowhere -- open

[Alec M'Crae]

A new uniform, and a new room on a whole new floor was given to Alec today. He didn't know it, but he was being moved to the level 4 care unit on the lowest floor on the asylum. This was classified as the extremely dangerous. Two days ago, Alec switched into this completely destructive character when he grabbed a metal chair and lashed it at his nurse's head. While he was in a cool-down room in the asylum, his nurse was taken to the hospital where they tried to save he life. She was found brain dead, and pronounced dead about an hour after her arrival. Since than Alec has being violent and has injured a few more nurses, which than he was labeled from a level 2 to a level 4, and was given a new room. In this room, it was a little larger than his old one. Everything was white, from the floor to the sheets on his bed. They gave him his huge teddy bear to keep him calm, while all the furniture, walls and floors, were padded in case he lashes out again. This way no one would get hurt. The door to his room had three more locks on it, with a passcode to go along with it. There was a small window on the door was bulletproof class, and no windows inside the room since it wasn't on ground level anymore. The walls were sound proof, and by all means, lonely.

Alec sat on his new bed, holding his teddy bear in his arms. The atmosphere scared him, and he didn't know what to do. No one has came into his room in the past few hours and he wasn't allowed to have any puzzles or games to play either. It was no fun whatsoever. The new medication he was on made Bloo appear less often than usual, and if it did show up bad things would happen. All because of this little incident, he was thrown into what seemed like nowhere.

"What? Why would you do that," Rose yelled at her friend.Rose's blue eyes were filled with sadness. She came back to see Alec again. She enjoyed the short time she had with him and wanted to do it again. Helping him with things and being able to comfort him, but she was rejected. The report she filled showed that he was calm and could be easily treated to help his condition, but now he was moved to a new room and Rose was not aloud. Her friend explained the reasons why he refused to let her in, but she denied all of them. "It's because you don't take care of him!" Rose grabbed his arms and looked at him with pleading eyes, "Let me see him and I will show you he is a good kid."

Once again, denied Rose growled. Looking around, she found out what she needed to know and gathered what she needed. Rose was going to see Alec again and show he was a good person when he was treated like a human. Rose made her way through the many halls and up a few stairs. She hid in the shadows and came up with lies to get her to pass by. Finally, she came to the door. Working on the locks she slowly opened the door. "Alec are you in here?" Rose called out his name in a gentle voice.

The sound of the door unlocking made him jump, for he wasn't used to that sound just yet. When the door creaked open he his his face behind the teddy bear and backed up into the corner of his bed that was placed in the corner of his room. He was scared that he would attack them again, or he was getting into trouble, but it wasn't like that. Alec heard a familiar voice call his name, and a small glimpse of her face made him recall who she was. All he knew was her name was Rose and she was really nice to Alec, unlike other people here. Yet at the same time, he didn't want to approach her. What if he attacked her and hurt his friend? Would she ever want to see him again? As Rose walked in his room, he shied away behind his teddy bear again, but than peaked around its head. Alec's blue eyes were dull and lacked that spark he usually had in him. It was unfortunate what they did to him.

Closing the door behind her Rose looked across the room at the teddy bear Alec hid behind. When they first meet, he as sitting on top of a bookshelf and then fell from it. He cried, but Rose was able to calm him down. "Alec, what did they do to you?" Rose didn't want to see him hiding in fear, not from her. She was gentle to him and he trusted her, but now he hid and refused to show that cute side of him that she loved so much. Slowly, she made her way over to him. Not getting to close, she sat down in front of him, arms length away and smiled at him. On her shoulder, was a green bag she had brought with her. Reaching into it she pulled out a book. Putting it in front of her, she made sure it faced Alec. She opened it to reveal bright colors and beautiful pictures. Rose thought that Alec would like a picture book of animals and wildlife. To show him the good things about the world outside.

Alec started to shake a little as Rose approached him. He wasn't afraid of her whatsoever, but he was afraid of himself. Eventually Rose was at a somewhat close distance away from him, but she didn't try to make contact with him. Instead, a book was placed in front of him. It was a big book, but he didn't know what was inside of it. Alec liked books a lot, but obviously he only knew of picture books. He couldn't read. The book opened to the first page and a scenery of a rainforest with many different animals of many different colours. Alec peaked over his bear to get a closer look, obviously quite fascinated. He hasn't seen many kinda of animals in his life, even in the puzzles he would solve. They were usually Christmas puzzles since that was all they had, but at least he knew what a snowman was. Maybe one day he could make one... If he even gets out of here. Alec looked back up at Rose for a moment util he turned his attanetion back to the book. He even smiled a little. His favourite animal in this page was the lemur. He thought it was cute.

Rose could not help, but smile as she saw the childish ways coming back to him. A bright warm smile was placed upon her face and her blue eyes were lit up and happy. Rose giggled a little, it was a soft giggle and not to loud. "I like this one," Rose pointed to a leopard that was picking his head out of a bush. Looking away from the book and at Alec she spoke in a soft voice, "Which do you like?" Rose knew well that he didn't speak well, but she was unsure how much he knew. She tried to see if he understood her words or if he would use her body language to make understanding of what she was saying. Whatever the case, Rose wanted to help him. She would try her best to make her visits a daily thing and to show those people that he was just as them, but special.

Despite his misunderstanding, he was able to put together what she was asking him. Alec, believe it or not, was very intelligent, but since he lacked the communication skills and focused only on actions instead of words, couldn't prove that fact. Everyone thought he was clueless. Alec pointed at the leopard too, trying to say he liked the large jungle cat as well. Alec liked the patterns on it's fur, and the animal looked so fierce but pretty. The boy smiled softly, turning his head on his side and resting his cheek on the head of the bear; than he puffed his cheeks and let the air blow out between his lips, his eyes gaining its colour back. Being lonely wasn't very fun at all, and he liked Rose's company.

Rose watched him and noticed that he didn't really understand her words, or that was what she got from his actions. If he understood her words, he would have said them back to her saying he liked it too, but she got what he meant by copying her actions. So, Alec too liked the jungle cat, but she didn't know why. Maybe she never would, but time could change a lot of things. Looking up from the book, she rested her blue gaze on Alec and smiled. He had rested his head upon his teddy bear and looked adorable. He was just like a little child, but not a little child. She gave a small giggle then turned back to the book. Grabbing the corner of a page she turned it and the next scene was a dessert. With it's own since of beauty and strength Rose looked towards Alec to see what he would do with this page.

The desert didn't seem to please Alec as much as the jungle scenery. It was quite plain, with less colourful animals, but he investigated a little bit anyway. He saw snakes to coyotes, but they all seemed the same colour. When his eyes laid on the armadillo he laughed a little. Alec thought it was a funny little animal. Damn. His laugh was insanely contagious. The smile to go along with it made it even better. Alec pointed at the animal to explain to Rose why he as laughing about while an employee peeked in his room. They were going to remove Rose from his room, but nothing seemed to be wrong after all, so they let it be.

Rose was a little surprised by his sudden laugh but it slowly faded as he pointed to a creator in the picture. Looking and Alec and seeing how happy he was, she could not help but smile and laugh along. Then, over her shoulder she heard the sound of the door open, glancing over her shoulder she saw a worker. Expecting them to come in and take her by force, she was ready to jump up and protect Alec and herself, but for some reason they just shut the door. Turning back to Alec, she waited to see if he liked anything else about the page or if he was ready to move on to the next page.

Eventually, Alec decided to turn the page to a farm scenery. It seemed Alec was enjoying this book, even more than a child at the proper age of enjoying this book should be. The pigs seemed to be his favourite for this page, seeing them rolling in the mud they were already caked in. The horses seemed to make him smile too. Alec wished to one day see these animals, but he didn't know where. He had no idea these places called zoos existed, so as of now he could only dreamed. For the next ten minutes all Alec did was explore the book with animals inside, scoping out the animals he liked and the ones that scared him, like spiders. when he finally closed the book he looked up at Rose with a smile. Did she have any other books? If not, they could always do something else to keep Alec occupied. Sadly, there weren't any toys or games to play other than his bear that he strictly only cuddled with.

Rose leaned back to a more relaxed sitting position when she noticed Alec has taken control of looking through the book. She watched as he looked at the many places, doing the same thing they had done for the past two pages. Showing what he liked and what he didn't, it was rather interesting. He was so amused, she had never seen anyone with an expression like Alec's it was something rare. Pure enjoyment and happiness. When he smiled and laughed, she did the same. It was truly wonderful to be around Alec. When he finished the book he looked at her with a smile. "Don't worry, I came prepared." Rose grabbed her back and began to look through it. She pulled out a few books. One was about space, one was about colors and animals that had them, another was about animals and their babies and you could even touch their fake skin. Pulling them all out she placed them in front of Alec and let him choose which he wanted to look at first.

Alec went strait to the book on animals and their colors first. He wasn't interested in space whatsoever. The different animals with unique colours made him want to be one. Humans were boring-looking. when he got to the page where with rainbow-coloured animals his eyes widened. He never knew animals could have a lot of different colours! Even though the room was silent, his mind was making a lot of noise as he thought of what it was like to be an animal. Than we went to the book on animals and their babies. Alec felt the fur of the cats and dogs and rabbits and just about every animal that was given fur to feel, and when he finished the book, Alec glanced at the space book. He didn't know what 'space' was, but he knew there was a sun in the sky during theday, and a moon that changed its shape every night, and pretty stars in the sky. But when he opened the book, he saw planets and galaxies; space was more interesting than he thought! Was this really what was out there when you reach the sky?
