Charlotte clapped her hands together as she thought about what kind of trick she wanted to do, nothing too complicated, but nothing cliche either... She pulled out a stack of cards, laying them all on the table face up so that he could see that they were all different. she swiped her hand across their faces and they somehow turned onto the other side, which was also normal for a deck. She started muttering something then wiped her hand again, but as they flipped over, all the cards had turned into red, heart aces. Charlotte rolled up her sleeves and took off her little hat to show noting hiding in her sleeves or anything. "Magical?" She smiled mischievously and left out the cards to let Kellin investigate. She hadn't done that trick since she was little, her father was a real prankster and he always put on little shows for she and her brother Jordan. She missed those days, when she knew nothing of her powers or any of the deep crap her father was in. Talking it through was okay, but she wasn't use to it was all. She had her brother, but that was only occasionally, and she never liked to talk about that stuff with him. Charlie always got self-conscious of that, even if her problems were smaller than most people's.

Kellin watched closely, trying to figure out how she was performing the trick. Despite all the magic tricks he once learned, that one left him confused. He's never seen or done that trick before. Kellin's eyebrows raised, as fascinated as a small child were to be if they were to witness that. A smile grew on his mouth, and he looked back at Charlie. "Wow, that's actually really cool!" he exclaimed, examining the cards. "I've never learned that one before..." The young man brushed his hair with his fingers yet again, his bright eyes expressing his impressment. "I think I'm going to bring out my magic stuff again and teach my little sister some tricks... She'd have a lot of fun."
His eyes grew soft again at the mention of his little sister. She was the only reason he was still alive to this day. Kellin would give the world for her, literally. He's even cut back on spending his money on drugs to bring her stuffed animals and fun toys to play with. "So, how'd you do that? I want to know, tell me! Please?" his childish moment tuning back in, he examined the cards once again, his mind working hard to understand, but not understanding yet.

She smiled, giddy that wih a simple action could get someone else excited too. "Thanks, it was nothing!" She said waving hey and and slipping her deck of cards away into her sleeve, or so it seemed to go. Charlotte looked at Kellin with a warm expression, this conversation had gotten quite good in her perspective. It had gone from awkward experiences to magic tricks and now look at em, they acted like best buds. Charlie was glad she came… "Your sister…" she could only wonder what she was like, quiet and shy, probably nothing like her big bad brother. But by the way his eyes lit up she knew that he cared a lot for her. If ink her brother were like that, they were nothing alike and Jordan was a Daddy's boy, unlike her. She shook her head, the last thing she anted was her family putting a damper on things. "I don't know if I should tell you…but its part of my power." She whispered it and smiled deviously. Charlie always like to tease people and cause mischief.

Kellin realized they've been talking for quite some time, about an hour or so. He should have been home a while ago, and his paranoid mother would be pacing down the halls at this moment. He knew he should head out, but he didn't want to just leave his friend. He wished to talk with her more. Charlie was an interesting person he found, someone he would hope to encounter more than once in his lifetime. Suddenly his phone, set on the table started to vibrate, showing a picture of an older woman, who only he knew, was his mother. "S-sorry... It'll only be a second." he said to Charlie, answering the phone. "hello?" "Hi honey," the women on the other end of the phone greeted. "You alright?" "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just talking to a friend. Sorry I didn't call." "It's alright. You know me! I was just worried. Izzy wants you. She's been crying for the past few minutes..." Kellin bit his thumb, "She's upset? Okay... I'll head home than. Bye." After he hung up he looked at Charlie. "My little sister needs me. I need to go home." he said, putting his phone in his pocket. "I feel bad leaving you like that. You can come along if you want." he offered with a kind smile. "I don't mind at all."

She nodded, signaling that she didn't mind at all. Charlie was pretty glad to know that someone still cared enough to make sure he came home, wouldn't want anything happening huh? She smirked, thinking about what she was gonna do when she left. She still had a lot to do, well that was a lie, she just needed to pickup a few things but that could wait. She took the time that he was gone to take one of the newspapers off the neighboring tables. Her grey eyes skimmed the words, reading about more murders and even the break in at the science lab downtown. She always wondered about that place… Her hand turned over the paper to the job listings, she didn't want to work at the cafe like every other wench in town. She wanted something a bit more practical, something more physical. Charlie glanced up over the table as he returned. "Gotta go home…and you wanna bring me?" She had never run into this sort of situation. Then again, she had never held a conversation for more than twenty minutes so… "Sure, as long as your folks don't mind me." She said taking up her little cane. Charlie was pretty stoked to find out about the little girl, what she was like, his she resembled her brother. Charlie smiled and stood up, rolling up the paper and tucking it under her arm for later. She had nothing planned now. "How far is it?" She asked, wondering about if they were gonna walk or if the bus was gonna take them. Charlotte had a car, sort of, it was her Dad's gift to her but unfortunately it sat at home where she left after walking to the cafe.

Kellin was thrilled she decided to some along. His mother wouldn't mind her at all, but would question their status like most parents would. His little sister would be so happy to meet her too. Maybe Charlie could even show Izzy that magic trick he was showed a few minutes ago. "It's a far walk, especially out in the rain." He replied, rolling neck neck and cracking it twice. "I have enough money on me for a bus ride though." He responded. "Whenever the bus comes. I usually don't use buses." Kellin drugged and bit onto his snake bite again, wondering what to do.

She furrowed her eyebrows at his change, she didn't want to seem stingy did she? So many opinions mattered to her, her family's, Kellin's, and society as a whole nags just wanted to be liked and accepted. She had hose sort of quirks. She shuffled around before speaking up, digging Ito her pocket to pull out some change as well. "I'll pay, think if it as a thank you for the drink." She said opening the door out into the rain. Of course today was the day she didn't bring an umbrella, typical Charlie. Then again… Charlie whispered words of Old and covered her cane only to reproduce an umbrella. She popped it out to its full size and held it up. "Magic." She chuckled as she waits for Kellin by the door.

Kellin's eyes brightened in amazement, seeing the umbrella pop up from the cane. He laughed a little and followed behind her, rain instantly soaking him, his dark brown hair turning black from the wetness of it. He took away his beanie from his head and shoved it in his back pocket, his phone in the front pocket. Since he was in only a black tabletop he started to grow a little cold but he didn't mind it. "When is the train coming anyway? We could always walk to my house." He suggested, brushing his wet bangs away from his eyes.

She shrugged, it would probably only be a moment anyways, not too long if a wait. Charlie stuck close to the small bench, the overhang providing a small amount of shelter for the two. Her brown hair as well turned black and stuck to her arms and neck. Serves her right for not dressing properly, or for that matter not checking the weather. She chastised herself severely as they waited. "Look, there it is." She pointed down the street where a large blue bus rolled by, it skidded for a moment, creating a wave of hydroplane. She gave a small squeak as the bus came to a vault, splashing her in its wake. Charlotte grumbled slightly and glanced at Kellin, then at the bus. "Ready?" She chirped going up the steps with a small shake of her feet to get the excess water off. Charlotte chose a seat in the middle where the heater was blaring and the water could not reach them. "Here." She chirped again, waving her arms at him to give her position. She was okay with riding the bus, walking would have been a real wet adventure. Charlotte leaned back in the seat, letting the heater warm her up and dry her clothes/hair. She was not very fond of the rain…

Kellin followed her, both of them now being just as wet. Luckily the bus didn't get him wet. Well he was already wet... You know what I mean. She shook his head quickly, a bit if water sprinkling away from his hair as he smiled at the bus driver and walked towards were Charlie was. A clever spot she chose, near the heater. It would keep then warm for the time being. It wouldn't be fun going back into the cold rain, however, for it would be pretty cold and they were so used to the heat. After grabbing a spot next to her he took out his phone, relieved it was dry. Kellin looked at the rain patting down the window pane, almost sounding like a tiny drum. It calmed him down. "The nearest stop is not far from my home. We should be there in ten minutes or so."

A nod was all she gave, as she leaned back and revelled in the warm heat. She got pretty cold but she would have never told someone that. Charlie had a big pride to uphold and she excelled in keeping it that way. Of course occasionally she would have her outbursts but they were pretty rare. If they happened…well she didn't like to dwell on subjects of strong emotion. Charlie leaned her head against the corner of the window and the seat. If she pressed her cheek against the glass pane, she could feel the steady patter of the rain. It tickled her skin and made her cheek cold, but it was nice. She looked at Kellin, "Ten minutes…alright." She said unsure if what to do for the next ten minutes. She could do another tick but after awhile her antics got pretty dreary. They could talk some more but Charlie had trouble finding the right subject to converse about. She gave a small sigh and gave the boy a sidelong glance. She let her mind wander and bought about future events. What his mother think of her? She would most certainly find amusement in the mother's presumptions, humorous even. She would never rush such things and honestly saw herself unfit for such redemptions. Charlie dwelled more on the thought of the sister, she was overall excited to see her and was more than exhilarated to show off what she could. It would be an interesting encounter indeed.

His phone started to ring again, vibrating in his pocket and he assumed it was his mother calling again, which it was. Kellin pulled his phone out of his pocket and held it to his ear. "Hi." His mother's voice sounded uneasy and jittery, and it worried Kellin, but at the same time didn't seem so afraid or shocked at all. "Are you almost home? It's raining you're going to get sick! Isabella's still crying and I'm worried about you. Why aren't you home yet?!" Kellin but onto his snake bites, worried of Charlie's reaction to what he was about to say. "Mom, you're having a panic attack. Just breath.. I'm alright I'll be home in fifteen minutes-" "Kellin please I'm scared! What if you crash? I don't want to loose you!" Kellin could hear her cry through the phone, and it made him frown. "Lay down on the couch. Mom please, I'll be fine in almost home. I'll stay on the phone with you until we get home, okay?" He promised, hunching his back to rest his chin on his fist that rested against his knee. His family was broken, and Kellin has been the man of the house for years, not even sure of he could handle it much longer. His sister is autistic, his mother had severe anxiety and himself had depression. It's unrealistic how despite the lifestyle he lived in he was able to hold it all on his shoulders.

Charlotte watched him with a mix of worry and curiosity. She wished she could say something reassure the woman that everything was alright and that they'd be there soon. Then again, would her presence only worsen her condition? Was she nothing more than a burden? Maybe not to Kellin, but if she was disappointing his mother, or his sister, what kind of friend would she be then? Her eye stayed solemn though, if he trusted that it would alright, then it would be. She stayed silent as to not alarm the mother on the other line and only watched Kellin through eyes that morphed from light brown to a stale blue. It seemed like an eternity of silence and time, with nothing but Kellin and his mother, and then her. When the large vehicle finally rolled to a screeching stop, the rain outside had lighten to a heavy sprinkle, and the cold had released its grip and only left a ghostly chill in the still air. no breeze, just stale air. "Where to?" She asked quietly, looking at him behind her as she stepped off the steps.

"I'm getting off the bus now okay? Just a few more minutes and I'll be home." Kellin reassured his mother, brushing his fingers through his wet hair. He glanced back at Charlie as he stood up. "It's just down the street. If we run we don't get as wet and my mom will calm down faster." he laughed a little to lighten up his situation, thanking the bus driven and trotting out of the bus and into the rain again, careful not to get his phone too soaked. "we're gonna run home so we don't get wet, okay mom? Give me two minutes." "I'm fine now. You can get off the phone so you don't ruin it." His mother said with a monotone voice. "You sure?" "yeah. Izzy knows you're almost home so she's exited. It's making me feel better. She's sitting next to the door." Kellin laughed a little. "Okay. See you in a minute. Bye~" Kellin hung up and put the phone in his pocket. "okay I'm soaked, let's go!" the young man took her hand and started to run with her, squinting so his the water doesn't get in his eyes. It was only within a minute and a half when they reaches his average-sized home. It wasn't that big, but not uncomfortable small. Kellin let go of her hand and walked up to the front door, and just by turning the knob a giggle was heard from inside. When he opened it a little girl with blonde hair, drowned in his own black sweater she must have taken when he left it on his bed. She rushed up and hugged his legs, and Kellin laughed. "Hey Izzy~!" he greeted, picking the autistic five year old up into his arms. He let in Charlie and shut the door, not minding how Izzy played with the gauges in his ears. His mother was watching tv on the couch, seeming fairly normal. "hey mom." Kellin greeted, kissing his mothers cheek quickly. "You alright?" "I'm fine. Who's your friend?" she answered cheerfully. "Charlotte." he replied. "Hi there, hun~" his mother greeted.

The next ten minutes sort of were a blur. She heard his mother hang up and she herself calmed down a bit and smiled in relief, she never meant to pry into this little situation, it was probably her fault for keeping Kellin so long too. But she wasn't gonna go too hard on herself, after all, they were almost there. Charlie ran along side him, lifting her hand to shield her eyes from the soft rain and laughed in their hurry. They both stepped up to the door and while Kellin opened the door, Charlotte took the time to snoop around. At least he wasn't dirt poor, then she'd really feel bad. He was just an average man just like her, so no worries. not to say that she'd dis him if he was, she just didn't want to pile on the problems of her presence and what not. So point one for her. A soft giggle followed by a tackle made her watch in surprise as a little blonde girl rapped her brother in a tight hug. She smiled sweetly and came into the room, looking around where she also spotted the mother. She seemed calm now; another point. "It's nice to meet you." she smiled sincerely and tilted her head slightly. "Call me Charlie." She added in her introduction.
